Hypro-Sorb A® R is indicated for stopping capillary and parenchymotous haemorrhage in surgery and traumatology.

Method of application

Hypro-Sorb A® used as a haemostatic is applied on a cleansed wound usually with its smooth side onto the wound surface (although application with the patterned side is not a mistake), softly pressed down and left on the wound until the fibrine adhesion develops. Bleeding usually stops in two to six minutes; it lasts longer in haemophiliacs. After the bleeding is stopped, Hypro-Sorb A® can be carefully removed or left in place, if necessary. Usually it is used in dry state but it may also be moistened with sterile saline.
Hypro-Sorb A® can be left in the surgical wound, if necessary. It is recommended that the surgeon remove the excess felt at his/her discretion before closing the wound or leave only the minimum amount in the tissue because it slightly swells and it could exert pressure on the vicinity of the wound. Hypro-Sorb A® R implanted into the tissue resorbs spontaneously in two to four weeks depending on its amount and the body region.

Atelocollagen implants Hypro-Sorb A® R keep their compactness and effectiveness for two to three weeks. Then they are quickly resorbed during the fourth week after implantation. Other collagen materials known to date are gradually resorbed from the moment of implantation owing to the slight inflammation reaction; therefore their haemostatic or mechanic effectiveness decreases faster although the total resorption time is comparable.
Hypro-Sorb A® does not tear after moistening and does not stick to surgical instruments.

What are the advantages of atelocollagen"
Histological and clinical studies of Hypro-Sorb A® have shown several significant advantages of atelocollagen in comparison with other collagen materials:
Atelocollagen does not contain antigenic telopeptides and is therefore fully tolerated by the living tissue without immune reactions.
Atelocollagen contains less than 0.1% of non-collagen protein. Thus it does not promote the growth of microorganisms and is suitable even for infected wounds. It also has a slight bacteriostatic effect.
